that so many felt during the lockdown here at buildg 19. montgomery county police and the fire department sent their emergency response team into action. they received notification of an active shooter at walter reed national military medical center. turned out to be just a drill drill, an exercise posing no real danger, but it took a long time to straighten out. the county executive says he hat no official explanation from walter reed or the military how this mistake was made. >> they have just given some reliminary indication as to what possibly happened. failure to check off in their system that it was a drilve for wha reason, they didn't do that. >> reporter: some. people who sheltered in place hiding from what they gleebelie to be a gunman on campus emerged emotionally upset. >> i was reallycared. they said there was someone inside the building. >> we had no information but just totay in o offices.

50-year-old case. samuel little the convicted serialiller allegedly behind a string of murder across the country has now been linked t a 1972 murder in beltsvilil. the womand has never been identified but police are hoping this new confession could change that. the father of a murdered muslim teen from fairfax county says h finally has justice for his daughter. darwin martinez torres pleaded guilty today to the brutal murder of fabulous nabra. she was killed after getting separated in the summer of 2017. martinez torres will spend the rest of his life in prison. montgomery county ike leggett is waiting for an explanation about yesterday's false active shooter alert at walter reed medical center. police responded to the hospital as if the threat was real. the medical center says it was preparing for a drill when the alert wasistakenly sent out. a live look at the crowd waiting for the lighting national christmas tree. the annual holiday tradition
